Bioimpedance Analysis (BIA) is a diagnostic tool used to estimate the distribution of tissue and fluid in the body which provides information on immune function, aging process and overall cellular function.

The BIA is a FDA (Food & Drug Administration) approved electronic device which applies a 50kHz alternating current to the body using sensor pad electrodes. The data gathered provides a clinical assessment of body composition including: fat mass, fat-free mass, intracellular/extracellular mass, total body water, intracellular/extracellular water, basal metabolic rate and phase angle, a reflection of cell membrane function and integrity.
